Pearl II was owned by the Joubert family and operated on the Lane Cove River. Almost immediately after her launch, a bigger vessel (Pearl III) was laid down and Pearl II was sold to Brisbane.

On February 13th 1896 Pearl II was attempting to cross the flooded Brisbane River when she collided with the PS Lucinda. Pearl went to the bottom with twenty three of her passengers.
