The original Rose was another of the Joubert ferries that operated on the shallow Lane Cove River.

In 1891 she was considered obsolete with bigger and faster ferries having been introduced onto the route. She was sold in that year to Melbourne.

By 1898 she was back in Sydney in private ownership and lasted until being burnt out on October 7th, 1916.
