Warrane was the first largish vehicular ferry to operate on the harbour and served over a long period of time. During her lifetime she was modified with a wheelhouse at either end of her superstructure. After this change, she worked as a relief boat for many years.

In 1921 was replaced by the big, new Kooroongaba and was at this time converted into a lighter. Her final fate is unknown.
